Do you live by the sea?
If you have ever had time to roam on, sit by, and just be near the sea…
You just know.
Near the sea we forget to count the days….
We took a drive over to the shore last week.
It’s all there.
Sitting on the old lighthouse foundation and thinking about times past, things present, and hoping in things to come. You do that when you are by the sea…
Treasures found by the sea are not of gold and silver.
You hold them in your hand and treasure them a little differently.
Knowing they are crowded in your palm and in your pocket bring smiles.
Life’s simple pleasures.
It is ALWAYS too soon to have to leave.
One last look, breath, touch, and then it’s back.
But we tuck ourselves in to bed at night refreshed and peaceful and still able to hear the faint sound of waves and wind, even taste that salt air just a bit…
…’til next time.
The Mister checked the weather this morning. It’s calling for rain, rain,…. and more rain.
So, we decided to get as much yard work completed as possible before the indoor days hit.
This year it will be so easy to keep the yard looking decent (at least that is our plan) with 2 boys behind lawn mowers and the oldest able to use the whipper snipper.
We are also trying to make the gardens look nice. We’re new to flower bed gardening and I’m finding we need to just do ‘something’. If it ends up looking weird we can always dig and move stuff, right? :) When we moved in there were so many plants and it has all gone rather wild on us. Now we have to weed through to save what we think might be non-weeds and see how it turns out.
We were able to get a fare bit done outside and still manage to feed everyone and take some time to play with the baby. The kids wrapped up their chores, got showered up, and we all chillaxed and read some more from The Secret Garden before bed.
It was a good day. I love getting ready for my head to hit the pillow knowing that I’ve earned it.
Now let’s hope the baby thinks I’ve earned the right to stay there for longer than 3 hours at a time undisturbed. :)
We had such a nice Sunday here. We came home from church and had no plan for a meal.
I whipped up some Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls and let everyone know that was the extent of lunch and we went outside to enjoy the sun.
I made sure the baby was asleep and grabbed some good Sunday afternoon kind of reading, then found me a cozy chair under the crab apple tree.
There was a big shin-dig going on at the farm across the road. We just enjoyed the scenery and totally chillaxed.
Hope your weekend was just as sunny. :)
My son met a new friend while doing his chores yesterday. :)
Mr.Butterfly felt like stickin’ around for awhile . He went up one side of this guy and down the other.
Glad to meet you. Come again sometime.
A simple little visit from a colourful friend first thing in the morning can be a great start to a yummy sunny day.
We love spring.
We love the colour.
We love the new activities it brings.
There is wood to cut & stack, lawns to mow, gardens to till & plant… ice tea to make…
that last one would be my favourite. :)
Here are a few pic’s from the last few days to give you a taste of what it ‘feels’ like here at Watch the Sky Farm.
I say ‘feels’ because anyone who drives by may think we’re crazy for thinking an unkempt place such as this is anything to feel cozy about, but we really do see it this way most of the time.
Happy last week of May!
Our cherries are ready to be picked and they are really good this year. Our first year of getting around to harvesting them. Also, the first year for cherry jam. :)
Twink was very nice and allowed us in her territory to pick them.
It’s kind of a cozy way to spend a day. Work all day long, feel like you’ve accomplished something, take the kids swimming for an hour or so, come home for supper, and then finish the day off by gathering in the ‘orchard’ and filling a few bowls with cherries. :)
I was shocked that it took me a full hour to pit a bowl of cherries. We now have about 6 cups of prepared cherries for jam and hopefully a tasty pie.
And hubby is even more excited that more will be ready to be picked tonight…. along with the second round of peas….
I’m alive. I”m here. I haven’t forgotten about Book Review Friday. I admit that it has been a challenge to find time when I am awake to read. Summer is sooo busy. But I’m plugging away at it and I hope you are too.
I’m not writing a review. There just isn’t time. But I wanted you all to know that we should be up to Psalm 86 by next Friday. So if you are like me and need to play ‘catch-up’ please join in and see what we can accomplish in this next week.
We’ve had a busy week here and no end in sight. Some necessary things on the list of things to do this summer as well as some awesome-can’t wait-fun fun fun times to come as well. I’ll do my best to keep posting my favourite pictures along the way. It’s faster than writing it all down…. and probably way more interesting. :)
So, keep reading and I’ll do my best to be back here next week with the next weeks assignment. For now here are a couple of pic’s from the past week or so. :)
