Baby update :)

Standard

I finally got around to taking a picture of my growing belly. We’ve never done monthly pictures of my pregnancies before and I just kept forgetting to get one. So, here I am today at 17 weeks. I have already gained all the recommended weight for an entire pregnancy! Seriously, someone keep those chocolate bars away from me!  Hubby is quite proud of my belly though and it won’t be long until he’ll be able to feel the little one kicking around too. Just a bit excited. :)

I am attempting to be totally ready when our little one arrives. The school year will be in full swing and it will be canning time in the kitchen just before ‘baby time’ and then apple picking time after ‘baby time’. I want to be able to do it all. With careful planning and discipline we just might be able to pull it off.

I’ve been buying all our baby necessities second hand. We now have a crib, car seat and play pen. AND  I am soooo excited about my new adventure in cloth diapering. I was pleased to buy all these diapers & liners from a young woman selling them for 1/4 of the cost of brand new ones. God is good!

I would love to make lots and lots of homemade things for our baby throughout the summer. So far I’ve just made two receiving blankets. One is only going to work if it’s a girl. :) The red bib I just put together this afternoon. Love it. So simple even I could make it without any help. (My sister’s are shocked right now.)

Another sign of pregnancy is that my brain is shrinking. It happens every time. Hubby just rolls his eyes and laughs at most of my mistakes. For example:

On our way into town a few days ago I looked back in the van at my youngest son. His glasses were filthy. I pulled them off and started to clean them all up. Once they were nice and clear and sparkly again, without hesitation, I proceeded to put them on me…. I don’t even wear glasses. Scary.

Life is good. I’m not sick. I’m not depressed. My belly is getting big. All major baby needs are taken care of. I’ve got diaper head, but that’s to be expected. You can’t have it all. :)

Book Review Friday starts up again!!!

Standard

Thank you for reminding me. Both Anne and Christina brought BRF up today and it’s a good thing! :) I had a ‘note to self’ in my binder to start up Book Review Friday again on April 24th… and then promptly forgot to read the note this week. I hope you don’t mind the very late notice.

If you get this post later in the week it shouldn’t be a problem to catch up with the Bible reading. I’m changing it up for the summer, and I’ll tell you why. Usually we read a book in the OT and then switch to the NT. But…

It was once said that if we want to get to know God, study the Psalms. I’ve been intrigued by that thought for a few years now.  I think now is a great time to start exploring it. I hope you are all excited about it with me. Here’s my idea:

Let’s read a Psalm every day. Not just read, but sit down and digest, meditate, and pray over one Psalm every day. We’re bound to see and discover and be convicted as we go through. It’s an exciting prospect to me.

If we start April 24th and give a few extra weeks for Psalm 119 (since it’s insanely long) we will finish up reading each and every Psalm, with purpose, by the end of September. That’ll be  just before labour & delivery for moi. :) At the end of it all you’ll be able to say that you have done a personal study through Psalms and will have a great reference on all you learned at you fingertips. The notes you keep as you go become so valuable to you later on. I love my binder. I love looking back through what I’ve learned. I imagine you do too if you’ve been taking part for any length of time.

So there you have it ladies. Book Review Friday is back in full force. Read a Psalm every day. Keep notes on what the Lord shows you each day in your binder/notebook. Come back each Friday and leave a comment to let us know that you blogged about your thoughts from your weeks reading, or just leave a comment with your thoughts.

Don’t forget, it can be short ‘n sweet, or long n’ deep. Just read, meditate, pray, and give God more ammunition to do battle in your heart. You won’t regret it!

Pass the word along about BRF too. You just never know who might start reading their Bibles with purpose for the first time in their lives. It’s addicting. :)

It’s simple. It’s free. It’s eternal. Go for it.

So glad that a bunch of you listened in on the message for the prize. I’m not good with putting on a prize draw since I just felt guilty all day long that everyone didn’t win. That’s life, right?! :(

I am grabbing a minute to say hello while the kids are playing outside and the laundry has been folded.

My day started off helping my son do this:

…and then it started to do this…

… so that made me want to get this out …

…and then after school it stopped raining as much and this started…

Don’t you wish you had your very own Sou’ Wester?

Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the French Vanilla my dad brought me, or his haircut he received.

It’s been a nice cozy day. How was yours?

Y’all are some lucky!

Because of circumstances beyond my control I will have to wait to draw a name for our prize. If you have not already listened to the message by now, you still have a chance to and leave a comment on my prize post.

I must say I am shocked with the lack of comments. People are saying its so hard to find the time to listen to it. Just turn it up really loud and continue about your day. That’s what I did and the kids got to hear it too. You’ll love it and you just might win a prize.

Go. Listen. You have until Wednesday morning at 7am!!!

Time is running out.

Just a gentle reminder to each of you interested in winning ‘Fruit of Her Hands’ and ‘Praise Her in the Gates’, time is almost out for you to listen to the message. Just put it on loud enough for you to hear all over the house and keep working away. That’s what I did and have listened to it a couple times.

There is even enough time for you to blog and link to it to let others in on the message (or just email them if you don’t do the blogging thing) and a chance for a great prize.

So good. So worth it. Worth it whether you win or not. :)

Listen and win!!! : We now have a winner!!!

Standard

The names are all in and I thank you for taking part. It was a good listen and I’m excited that there are people out there excited about this kind of stuff! :)

I did the draw for the prize the old fashioned way (one of my kids drawing a name from a hat), and the winner is……….

Charmin

Congratulations!! I’ll order those books and get them sent out as soon as Breakfast is done.

Hello? Is anyone out there? Most of the time I figure it is useless to continue this blog thing. I’m figuring I’ve lost all my readers except for my few friends from close by that don’t want to hurt my feelings. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be sick for a couple months. :{  But hey, I’ve got a link for you all and want to give you a chance to win a cool prize.

Hubby and I listened to/ watched this message and would love to have a means of making copies and sending them to everyone we know but I’ll just let everyone know about it here in blog land instead.

I do double dog dare you all to listen or watch the video before Tuesday, April 21st is over,  and then come back and let me know your thoughts.

If you listen to the whole message, leave a comment saying so and your name will go in for the prize draw. If you and your hubby both listen to it, your name will go in three times for the draw.

And what might you win you ask???

fruit of her hands

praise her in the gates

I own and have underlined lots in the first book but don’t have, and would love to get my own copy of, Praise Her in the Gates. Instead, I am offering you the chance to win them both. The winner will be drawn next Tuesday and I will order a brand new copy of each book and have it sent out from Amazon the next day.

Sound like a good prize? Hope so.

Pass the word around. The more the merrier.
