BRF: 1Thessalonians

Standard
This was a good one for me to read at the start of the new year. Although, I was sick, and it feels like I can’t get a good start on ‘beginning fresh’ until next week. 2:12 "that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory." Since I know I cannot accomplish that in just a year, it will have to be an ongoing resolution.:) In my plans each day of what I decide for my family and for me, this is a good standard to go by. Is it going to be worthy of God? Is it going to further His kingdom? There are many things I can think of right now that would be cut out of our schedules or added if I took this seriously. Am I willing to do the work to make the changes though??? Usually when I’m not feeling very willing to do anything it’s because I feel failure before I even start. That’s why I appreciated 1:5 so much. There’s always hope. It says,"For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance.." We weren’t given the knowledge of what we are supposed to do and then left with it to attempt it on our own. We have been given power, considering where that power comes from it would be silly to think that there was something in my life that couldn’t be overcome. All those things I want God to change in me this year if I keep using His power, listening the the Holy Spirit, and leaning on the assurances in God’s Word, they can be accomplished. And I can start this year out humbled (and excited) with the simple, yet amazing, thought of me (me!) having "been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel.." Why? I don’t know. I certainly don’t take that seriously each day. But He obviously has a purpose and I will be ‘pressing toward the prize’. :) Since I still don’t feel 100% I’m going to be needing a lot of power today. I’m off to make up for some lost time. :)
